The DEATH OF ME (Album Cover)
11/27/2018 - as of today this is the cover I’m going with. I was initially visually inspired by the dia de los muertos theme after watching coco about 70 times with Graham (inspiration can come from anywhere right?) and seeing how death was experienced in the Mexican culture. At the same time, I was trying to make sense of verse in the bible that talk about the death of self to live, as selfishness was/is a pervasive thing I deal with in my life. And the image that came into my head was a winky skull, so I drew it. To me it symbolizes the fear of what death to self might mean for me, what I would have to give up, or sacrifice, BUT also a willingness to run towards that for full life. Side bar: for good measure, I gave him a hat.
Mark 8:34-35 - Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it."
